Three doctoral music students from the University of Arizona in Tucson will be featured performers in the culminating concert of the annual Conference of the International Double Reed Society on Aug. 14 in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

The students, who together comprise the Sonoran Chamber Project, include: bassoonist Scott Pool, a student of William Dietz; oboist Lindabeth Binkley, a student of Neil Tatman; and pianist Eric Stellrecht, a student of Rex Woods. The selection of the performers was made based on the high professional standards demonstrated by the musicians.

For the concert, the trio will perform the world premiere of Greg Bolin's "Trio for Oboe, Bassoon and Piano," a specially commissioned work . A May graduate of the UA School of Music, Bolin earned a master of music degree.

The International Double Reed Society is the foremost worldwide organization for educators and musicians of double reed instruments which includes bassoons, oboes, English horns and contrabassoons.

Funding was provided by the School of Music and Dance Graduate and Professional Student Travel Grant Fund and a private donation.
