An Education of a Lifetime

A group of Eller College of Management students and their faculty members are touring major athletic events in Europe this summer.

And the students also are taking courses at Coventry University in England.

So far, the group has met UA alumna and 2008 Olympic silver medalist Lacey John, formerly Lacey Nymeyer. Students also toured the Dallas Cowboys Stadium with VIP access and recently saw the Olympic torch run through Coventry.

Ben Zenner, an Eller student maintaining a blog about the trip, writes: “Although we only saw the torch momentarily, my feelings of American pride were in full effect! And, just thinking that that torch would be in Olympic stadium in a few short weeks – it was absolutely spectacular.”

Zenner and other Eller students are learning about international sports enterprise, public relations and sports promotion, among other topics.

He also writes: “Although, taking classes during the summer may not be the most exciting thing to do – when you get to talk about sports for multiple hours a day for school credit, you’re pretty dang lucky!”
