UA Cooking Classes Under Way

One perception about college living is that students feed only on instant ramen noodles, pizza and fast food.

While there is certainly a fair share of that type of eating, others are  working to cultivate healthier diets, and members of the UA are working to help.

The UA is among campuses across the nation that offer cooking classes to the campus community and information on healthy choices.

Indulge in healthy eating habits as a college student, and beyond? Yes, it is, in fact, possible.

Campus Recreation is hosting UA student and celebrity chefs who are leading a series of workshops this fall. Called Cooking on Campus, the workshops inform students and also faculty and staff how to make quick, easy, healthy meals.

Held at the UA Student Recreation Center's instructional kitchen, located in the Outdoor Adventures area, the forthcoming events are:

  • Oct. 9: Wok Your World
  • Oct. 23: Roasting
  • Nov. 6: Brain Foods
  • Nov. 20: Iron Chef

Registration is required and open via the Campus Rec's website. The cost is $5 for each class.

Also, check out the Cooking on Campus blog for information about the program, the schedule, photos and recipes.
