Boyce Thompson Arboretum Tour – Sunday Bird Walk

When: June 24, 2018 8:30am

Already famous as an Audubon-certified Important Bird Area, the UA's Boyce Thompson Arboretum in Superior lures bird-watchers year-round for self-guided outings. The arboretum also boasts a guided walk series featuring names on Arizona's A-list of ornithologists, and the June 24 special guest leader is Homer Hansen. Hansen has spent more than two decades mastering intricate field marks of sparrows, songs and habitats of warblers, and habits of hawks that can be keys to bird identification. He'll share his expertise on sparrows, raptors, flycatchers, warbles and bird ecology during the guided walk.

Beginners are welcome and so are children who are accompanied by parent or chaperone. No binoculars? No problem – loaner pairs are available if you ask our friendly gift shop staff when you arrive and pay admission.

If you need more incentive that BTA's a great place to see birds, a recent sighting report includes Common Black Hawk, Ash-throated Flycatcher, Orange-crowned Warbler and Lazuli Bunting. Read the latest arboretum bird sightings at the link below.
