TLA Made It Happen Talk – 'Lunewave: Commercializing Improved Radar Systems for the Automotive Industry'
This presentation is part of Tech Launch Arizona's series "Made It Happen: From Research to Invention to Impact: Lunch-and-Learn Discussions With Entrepreneurial UA Researchers."
Presenters:
- Hao Xin, Ph.D., professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, inventor
- Bob Sleeper, TLA licensing manager in the College of Engineering
In 2017, the UA licensed two technologies to Xin's startup, Lunewave. The aim of the new company is to leverage the inexpensive, high-performing 3D-printed Luneburg lenses that Xin and his team developed, and bring them to the automotive industry.
Since that time, the company has won a Small Business Innovation Research/Small Business Technology Transfer grant from the U.S. Small Business Administration, and has been awarded a Phase 1 grant to develop its automotive radar sensor system for autonomous transportation. It also was awarded a prestigious spot participating in the BMW Urban-X program, which provides startups with expert guidance on customer and product development.
Join us as Xin tells us about his experience creating and refining their invention, and working with Tech Launch Arizona to commercialize it via their startup, Lunewave.
