Workshop – 'ABD to Ph.D. Writing: Sentence Fluency'

When: February 28, 2019 4:30pm to 6:30pm

The ABD to Ph.D workshops are designed and facilitated by experienced writing professionals from across campus. They provide writing support for all-but-dissertated students, an opportunity to discuss shared concerns about the dissertation process and introduce strategies to facilitate writing. Each semester the series has three workshops with topics that address dissertation writing for ABD students at the beginning, middle or end of the writing process. The ABD to Ph.D. workshops are made possible by the Graduate Center, the Graduate and Professional Student Council, the Writing Skills Improvement Program and the Think Tank.

Febuary's topic is "Literature Review 2.0: Synthesizing Information." In this workshop, we will focus on issues that interfere with sentence-level fluency, including grammar patterns, transitions and sentence structure.

Reasons you should attend the workshops:

  • Learn new skills and strategies
  • Refresh your knowledge of effective writing practices
  • Be surrounded by other ABD students focused on dissertation writing

Please know that in-person seats are reserved for ABD students, however, all other students and postdocs may attend online via Zoom. Light refreshments, snacks and pens and paper will be provided
