'Flavors of Malaysia 2019'
"Flavors of Malaysia" is an annual cultural event for the Tucson community by the emerging cultural club, the Malaysian Students Association.
Malaysia is a multiethnic and multicultural country in Southeast Asia. The ethnic groups of Malaysia consist of the indigenous communities, the Malays, Chinese, Indians, and other ethnicities. This is an event to showcase the diverse cultures of Malaysia, as well as a chance to enjoy some of Malaysia's delights! Everyone is welcome.
This is the UA's first Malaysian Students Association, founded in fall 2015. Since then, the club has seen a two-fold increase in Malaysian student enrollment in the past two years. The association is affiliated with the Malaysian Embassy, the Malaysian Department of Education in Los Angeles and the Associated Students of the University of Arizona. The association was nominated for the Outstanding New Organization Award in 2016 and Best Multicultural Program Award in 2017 by ASUA. The Malaysian Students Association invites you to join them in a gastronomical adventure!
There will be authentic Malaysian food, desserts, games, cultural demonstrations, trivia questions, and a wonderful opportunity to interact with a diverse group of Malaysians! It's an opportunity to experience a brand-new culture on campus. We hope to see you all there!
Selamat Datang! ("Welcome" in Malay, the official language of Malaysia.)
