UA Science Cafe at Magpies Gourmet Pizza – 'Managing Marine Ecosystems for a Sustainable Future'

Tuesday, November 19, 2019 - 6:00pm

Presenter: Lynn Massey, Fishery Management Specialist, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

About the talk: Our ocean ecosystems are under stress from many human activities, yet we have the scientific knowledge and ecosystem management tools to guide our marine ecosystems back to health. Massey will talk about her work on the California Current Large Marine Ecosystem, and how the United States manages commercial fisheries off the West Coast.

About Science Cafes: Science Cafes, presented by the UA College of Science, bring the community together with UA scientists and graduate students in a casual setting. You'll learn about the latest research being conducted, get to know the faces behind the science, and have opportunities to ask questions and deepen your understanding. We have five separate cafe series at five different locations around Tucson, each with their own themes for fascinating science discussions.
