Design Thinking 101: Equity-Centered Strategies

When: October 15, 2019 4:30pm to 6:00pm

Join us for an introductory workshop on design thinking! We'll be at a new location at Sentinel Peak Brewing Company at Grant and Swan roads. Networking begins at 4:30, with the presentation to start around 4:45.

"Design thinking" is a framework for identifying human-centered solutions. Jen Nichols and Niamh Wallace, librarians at University Libraries, will lead us through equity-centered design thinking strategies that explore empathy building and critically work through the practice of defining problems. You will leave with practical strategies to systemically center inclusive and anti-oppressive methods within your own local contexts.

Sentinel Peak is a 15-minute drive from the University. It has a full bar and full menu (including vegetarian options), is wheelchair accessible, has accessible and gender-neutral restrooms, and has plenty of free parking. It's also on Sun Tran bus routes #1 and #9.

Everyone is welcome, including newcomers and all ages (you also don't have to be part of the University to participate!).
