Conference – 'Science Policy and Diplomacy: Sustainable Development for the Americas'

When: October 23, 2019 6:30pm to October 25, 2019 3:00pm

The university will host delegates from around the world to discuss the need and value of science, health and engineering in developing and informing policy.

The meeting goals are to host an internationally recognized meeting on an increasingly important topic, to raise the university’s visibility and stature in a field in which we are actively involved, and to provide students an opportunity to learn about science diplomacy as a relevant topic related to their studies and as a potential career option.

We invite students to:

  1. Attend the meeting as a delegate
  2. Serve as a conference rapporteur

We invite faculty to:

  1. Attend the entire meeting as a delegate
  2. Encourage their students to attend or participate as rapporteurs
  3. Have their classes attend one or more sessions

If you would like to have your full class attend a session, please contact Kevin Lansey (lansey@email.arizona.edu) and Hassan Vafai (hvafai@email.arizona.edu) to arrange logistics and ensure space is available.

Interested faculty are also welcomed to learn more about and join the cross university Science Policy and Diplomacy Initiative (SPDI) team to advance science diplomacy on campus.
