CANCELED – UAMA Talk – 'Education and Art in Prison: Discovering Energy, Curiosity and Talent Behind the Bars'

How does one create when your only material is paper? Marcia Klotz, Ph.D., the director of the UA's Prison Education Project, and Olivia Miller, the UAMA's Curator of Exhibitions, will discuss the significance of prison education programs and how the museum became involved in the art on the yard project at Tucson's prison complex.
Miller will also discuss how the exhibition "Hobby Craft" was created. Recently incarcerated artist Scott Gleason will also share what it means to be an incarcerated artist and create art, sharing images of murals painted while in Tucson's Arizona State Prison Complex.
