Worlds of Words Book Fiesta With Lori Alexander

Saturday, February 15, 2020 - 10:00am to 12:00pm

Worlds of Words Book Fiesta presents author Lori Alexander, recipient of the Robert F. Sibert Informational Book Medal.

Feed your curiosity and explore the world up close. Join us for activities with magnifying glasses and microscopes. We will go on a nature scavenger hunt, make microbe models and look at everyday objects up close – very close.

About the author: Alexander's award-winning book, "All In a Drop," is about the life scientist Antony van Leeuwenhoek. He didn't speak Latin like all the other scientist of the day. Yet, through his curiosity and perseverance, he engineered a microscope unlike any other. He was the first to discover bacteria and other microscopic life and is now remembered as the "Father of Microbiology." "All In a Drop" is a lively, accessible and full-color biography that shows how a self-taught scientist was the first to observe the microbial life in and around us.
