University of Arizona Museum of Art presents two new exhibitions: David Headley and Sol LeWitt Days. Both open with a public reception and "Meet the Artist" opportunity. The reception is free and open to the public.
UAMA highlights abstract art in the Main Gallery for the summer of 2012, featuring four triptychs of New York artist David Headley. Each is 36 feet wide and a discrete exploration of the endless possible combinations of color, form and gesture. Headley has undertaken to produce 120 giant triptychs. To date 69 have been completed.
The Headley exhibition coincides with Sol LeWitt Days. LeWitt, who stressed the ideas behind his work over the artistic execution by the artist himself, often invited other artists and students to assist him in making his installations. Extending this tradition to Tucson, LeWitt’s concepts will be constructed by six teams of Tucson artists starting in the UAMA Main Gallery on May 24 and continuing through the early part of the summer. Visit often, talk to the artists and watch the drawings develop.
David Headley and all the Sol LeWitt Tucson teams will be at the reception. Check out the abstract art!
