UA professor Guy McPherson was an award-winning scholar and teacher for 20 years. His life has taken a dramatic turn since he left the University in 2009 – sufficiently dramatic, in fact, to inspire a documentary film.
McPherson left the University of Arizona as a tenured full professor at the age of 49. He went back to the land in southwestern New Mexico, where he lives in an off-grid, straw-bale house and puts into practice his lifelong interest in sustainable living via organic gardening, raising small animals for eggs and milk, and working with members of his rural community. Independent filmmaker Mike Sosebee documents his efforts in a film titled "Somewhere in New Mexico before the End of Time."
The film will premiere at the Gallagher Theater. The film's primary subject, Professor Emeritus of Natural Resources and Ecology & Evolutionary Biology Guy McPherson, will be available to answer questions, as will filmmaker Mike Sosebee.
