Annual Fundraiser – 'Consider Yourself Challenged'

When: February 18, 2017 4:00pm

"Consider Yourself Challenged," is an interactive annual fundraiser and awareness event directed at Tucson residents and businesses to give, get active and help challenged athletes achieve their potential.

The event is proudly presented by Jim Click Automotive Group, Hanger Clinic, GEICO Insurance, UA Adaptive Athletics and UA Campus Recreation. Proceeds from this event benefit the Challenged Athletics Foundation, UA Adaptive Athletics and UA Campus Recreation's future diversity and inclusion initiatives.

Family and friends are encouraged to attend this free event to meet many inspiring athletes, share their passion and hear how they had to overcome obstacles. A silent auction and athletic demonstrations will be on hand as well as video presentations and on-going raffles.

The University of Arizona and Southern Arizona have some of the nation's best adaptive athletes, including elite Team USA participants and Rio Paralympic gold medalists. Many of our adaptive athletes became physically challenged due to service to our country, accidents, birth defects or cancer. Giving them the chance to succeed in an active lifestyle is expensive! The cost of the five running legs alone for the four girls pictured here is approximately $90,000 and not covered by insurance.

This fundraising event will include demonstrations of adaptive sports and the opportunity to speak with adaptive athletes to understand the special equipment needed to participate in their sports. In addition, there will be a meet and greet with Miss Arizona USA 2017, Tommy Lynn Calhoun—the first titleholder from Tucson in over twenty years and a person who has overcome her own obstacles to achieve success.

Immediately following the event, the fundraising will continue at Gentle Ben's (Main Gate Square, 865 E University Blvd.) between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. in the upstairs lounge with 20 percent of all sales (Mention "CAF") going to the beneficiaries of this event.

Anyone who is physically challenged and interested in learning about how to get involved in sports, is also encouraged to attend this event.

Donations gladly accepted. To donate directly to this event, please visit the website. Raffle and/or silent auction items should be sent directly to the CYC Event Chair at 3333 E. Speedway Blvd, Tucson, AZ 85716.
