Advancement of Latinos in Engineering and the Young Latina Forum

When: March 02, 2017 8:00am

The ALE/YLF event is designed by the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) University of Arizona Chapter members to promote higher education, specifically in the STEM field, to high school students from accross the state of Arizona. The event focuses on minorities who are underrepresented in higher education, particularly hispanics and women. The center of the event is the engineering grand challenge competition, where students collaborate to build solutions to the major problems that humanity currently faces.

In addition to the engineering grand challenge, students are exposed to University resources such as Admissions, Engineering Ambassadors, different clubs and organizations, a panel of students and professionals and inspiring keynote speakers.

The event exemplifies SHPE's mission by promoting leadership and encouraging young Hispanic men and women to attend college and pursue a career in the STEM field.
