The University of Arizona Fred Fox School of Music presents the Arizona Wind Quintet in concert. Members of the quintet are Kate Nichols, flute (sabbatical replacement for Brian Luce); Sara Fraker, oboe; Jackie Glazier, clarinet; William Dietz, bassoon and Gregory Helseth, horn (sabbatical replacement for Daniel Katzen).
On this program the quintet will perform Paul Hindemith's "Kleine Kammermusik," Jan Sweelinck's "Variations on a Folksong," "Cinco Danzas Breves" by Mario Lavista, "March" by John Barrows, and the Fred Fox Graduate Wind Quintet will join the faculty ensemble in Percy Grainger's "Suite No. 1."
Founded in 1975, the Arizona Wind Quintet performs regularly on campus and in the community, and has toured throughout the western states, including a recital at the national meeting of the Music Educators National Conference. The group has developed an educational focus in its performance schedule, traditionally inviting students from the Fred Fox School of Music at the University of Arizona to join it in performances of expanded wind ensemble works during its spring semester program.
