Arizona Three-Minute Grad Slam Statewide Competition

Saturday, April 15, 2017 - 2:00pm

The Arizona Three-Minute Grad Slam is a statewide competition for the best three minute talk about graduate student research and discovery. The top graduate student presenters from Arizona's public universities are evaluated on their ability to convey in a compelling fashion the value of their research or creative work to an intelligent, non-specialist audience within three minutes. The best presenters may win up to $3,000 all the while increasing awareness surrounding the research and scholarly work of the state's graduate students through their accessible presentations. The public is encouraged to attend and can participate in the decision of the People's Choice Award. A light reception will follow the conclusion of the talks.

Presenters are selected by the local competitions at UA, Arizona State University and Northern Arizona University.

This year's UA presenters are the top three finalists and the People's Choice Award Winner of UA Grad Slam 2017. In alphabetical order, they are:

  • Lourena Arone, plant pathology doctoral student
  • Tim Frost, biomedical engineering GIDP doctoral student
  • Lora Key, history doctoral student
  • Samantha Reznik, clinical psychology doctoral student
