UA Students, Employees Show Appreciation to War Veterans
To honor the contributions of World War II and Korean War veterans, a group of University of Arizona student veterans and employees served as guardians for veterans on a recent trip to Washington, D.C., to visit memorials built in honor of service.
The three-day trip, held in advance of Memorial Day with support from philanthropist Chandler Warden and the Bert W. Martin Foundation, is one of a series of such events held nationally to show gratitude to those who committed their lives to service.
Nineteen from the UA supported 25 military veterans on the trip, with Honor Flight Southern Arizona serving as the partner hub.
Honor Flight is a national network with about 130 hubs throughout the U.S., providing the trips to military veterans at no cost.
