AG Benefit

Jan. 20, 2000

Nationally renowned cowboy poet Baxter Black will headline a dinner and concert on the UA campus Monday, Feb. 21, at 6 p.m. to benefit undergraduates in the College of Agriculture.

Dinner will be in the Memorial Student Union, Senior Ballroom. The concert will follow at 8 p.m. in the Social Sciences Building Auditorium.

Black, who is now retired in Arizona, is familiar to millions of radio listeners as a frequent contributor to National Public Radio's Morning Edition.

Proceeds from Black's appearance will go to the Livestock Judging Team, a group of undergrads in the College of Agriculture who travel throughout the United States to evaluate livestock for commercial and breeding purposes. UA livestock specialist Robert Kattnig says the students learn decision-making skills about the livestock business and communication skills in defending their decisions. The event will help them fund trips and other expenses.

The benefit is $100, and includes preferred seating at the concert. The concert alone only $20. E-mail Beth Carter at bcarter@ag.arizona.edu or call 621.7190.
