The Arizona baseball team captured the Tucson Regional championship on June 3 with another offensive onslaught, pounding Louisville, 16-3, for the second straight night before a crowd of 3,485 at Hi Corbett Field.

Now, the Arizona baseball program is set to host its first-ever NCAA Super Regional this weekend at Hi Corbett Field.

Arizona (41-17) will host St. John's (40-21) in a best-of-three NCAA Super Regional this weekend at the historic venue. The series will begin on June 8 at noon and continues on June 9 at noon and June 10 at 1 p.m. (if necessary). All games will be televised live on ESPN2.

The Wildcats cruised through the Tucson Regional, routing Missouri (15-3) in the opener and winning two games against Louisville (16-4 and 16-3).

On June 3, Johnny Field collected four hits and drove in seven runs, highlighted by a third-inning grand slam that staked the Wildcats to a 4-0 lead. Arizona added a run in the fifth, before tallying back-to-back four-run innings in the sixth and seventh frames. For good measure, the Wildcats tacked on three more runs in the eighth inning.

James Farris tossed his third complete game of the season. The right-hander struck out seven, walked one and scattered 12 hits while allowing just three runs – two earned – in his first career postseason start.

Freshman Riley Moore collected four hits and scored four runs for the Wildcats, who hit .472 as a team over three regional games and outscored opponents a cumulative 4-7.

Arizona (41-17) swept its three games at the historic venue, hosting postseason games for the first time since 1992. The top-seeded Wildcats dispatched fourth-seeded Missouri, 15-3, on June 1 and crushed the third-seed Cardinals, 16-4, on June 2.

The rout on June 3 puts the Wildcats into the Super Regional round for the third time in school history. Fans will be able to purchase tickets in advance at the McKale Ticket Office and online.
