Capping off Rodeo Week every year, thousands of winter visitors, southern Arizona residents, collectors, students and others are dazzled by some of the finest Native American crafts in the Greater Southwest at Arizona State Museum's Southwest Indian Art Fair. Just as with this year's Fiesta de los Vaqueros, the Southwest Indian Art Fair promises to be better than ever!

On Feb. 26-27 the work of more than 100 of the region's most outstanding artists will fill open-air tents on the museum's front lawn and be showcased in exhibits in the museum's historic north building. Visitors will be able to meet and buy directly from the artists themselves. Jewelry, textiles, basketry, kachina dolls, pottery and rugs will all be part of this cultural celebration. The fair comes alive with music, storytelling, fashion shows and native cuisine.

New this year
The Southwest Indian Art Fair will add several new features that hold promise for new and bigger audiences, including:

- a youth center to showcase talented young artists ages 18 and under from the region;

- a textile and weaving education tent where six native weavers will demonstrate spinning and dying techniques, wool carding, and lead discussions on design motifs, regional designs and more;

- food booths, free water stations and covered rest areas.

The Juried Competition:
The fair offers cash awards in numerous categories to selected winners of a juried competition. This year, a textile and weaving category will also be added. The awards, generously underwritten by individuals and businesses from the Tucson community, acknowledge artistic achievement and encourage these impressive artists in their professional careers. Previous winners include some of the most prestigious names in Southwestern art.
