Charles Roe Sings Vocal and Chamber Music

"A Program of Vocal and Chamber Music" presents Charles Roe, baritone, Rex Woods, piano, and the following guest artists: Wanda Brister, mezzo-soprano; Neil Tatman, oboe; Ed Reid, trumpet; Jean-Louis Kashy, flute; Christina Swanson, violin; and Tullio Rondon, cello.

This Sunday matinee concert features the following program: two arias with obbligato instruments by J. S. Bach; six Lieder for violin and baritone by Louis Spohr; four duets for mezzo soprano and baritone by J. Brahms; and an opera aria by Giuseppe Verdi.

Instrumental and voice combine in three songs by Maurice Ravel for flute, cello and piano and a Robert Starer composition for trumpet and voice.

Roe, UA professor of voice, serves as the artistic director of the University of Arizona Opera Theater. He has sung leading roles with the New York City Opera and numerous regional opera companies, and he has appeared as a soloist with leading orchestras.
