Grad Student Wins Humboldt Postdoctoral Fellowship

John Prineas, physics graduate student, has been selected to receive the
prestigious Humboldt Postdoctoral Fellowship from the German government. Prineas will use his fellowship to conduct research with Juergen Kuhl of the Max Planck Institute for Solid State Physics in Stuttgart, Germany. His work will focus on light-coupled periodic quantum wells and quantum dots.

John currently works with Professor Hyatt Gibbs, of the UA Optical Sciences Center. He will be in Germany for one to two years. His long-term goal is to continue doing basic research on semiconductors either in industry, at a national lab or at a university.
