Victor R. Baker, Regents' Professor and head of the UA hydrology and water resources department, Alfred McEwen, research scientist at the UA Lunar and Planetary Laboratory and Devon Burr represented the University of Arizona at the International Symposium on Extraordinary Floods in Reykjavik, Iceland, held July 17-19.

Baker was the keynote speaker for the conference session on prehistoric floods. His presentation was "Floods Most Extreme: Planetary Occurrences, Dynamic Processes and Diverse Consequences."

Burr, a UA doctoral candidate in planetary sciences in LPL, delivered a paper on "Recent Extreme Flooding on Mars," co-authored with Alfred McEwen.

Burr, whose advisers are Baker and McEwen, will be a Fulbright Scholar in Iceland next year.
