KUAT-FM's Bill Pitts celebrates 25 years with the station as its classical musical announcer. He has held the weekday evening music host position since August 26, 1975. KUAT-FM began broadcasting just three months earlier, on May 19, 1975.

During his time at KUAT, Pitts has produced award-winning special features, including "The Golden Voices: Caruso to Callas," a series of 13 hour-long programs showcasing some of the best opera singers of the 20th century. The series won the national "Crystal Award of Excellence" and during the fall of 1999 was distributed nationwide.

Other programs produced and narrated by Pitts include "Tangled Terms," "The Sound of Genius," "What's in a Name?" and "Music Born Again."

"My greatest pleasure in spending these years at KUAT is the friendship and rapport I've developed with so many listeners," Pitts said. "People often call asking about selections I've played, or with a request for something they'd like to hear. Music is an emotional bond that bridges other differences."
