Lecture Focuses on Smart Growth Made Practical

Feb. 5, 2001

As the second in a series of talks by nationally recognized experts, Dr. Brian Williams, of the University of Arizona School of Public Health, will present his topic as part of the Roy P. Drachman Institute's focus on healthy community growth and healthy aging. Williams will address "smart growth" from a practical focus -- both the potential and the problems inherent in trying to reshape urban areas and suburban growth.

His talk will include a discussion of how planners, developers and housing experts have implemented effective strategies and made a positive difference.

"Environmental Equity and Smart Growth: A Pragmatic Link," a lecture by Williams, will be held Friday, Feb. 9, at 5:30 p.m. at the College of Architecture, Planning, and Landscape Architecture, Room 103.
