McCarty Participates in Kellogg Conference

Teresa L. McCarty, associate professor of language, reading and culture in the UA College of Education, recently participated in the first conference from the W.K. Kellog Foundation's National Leadership Program and International Leadership program. More than 600 community leaders participated in the five-day forum that addressed the challenges and opportunities facing communities in the new millennium.

McCarty was awarded a Kellogg Foundation Fellowship in 1993. During the three-year fellowship, she studied issues of minority language rights and national unity, traveling to Latin America, Canada, Europe to consult with scholars, community leaders, policy analysts and human rights experts.
