A remembrance will be held for Michael Cusanovich this Saturday at the University of Arizona. Cusanovich, the director of the Arizona Research Laboratories and a former vice president for research at the UA, died suddenly on April 12.
The memorial will be held May 8 from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Student Union North Ballroom. A formal program will begin at 11 a.m., and light refreshments will be served.
The Michael A. Cusanovich Endowment Fund also has been established in the UA College of Science as a lasting tribute to his many contributions to the UA. Donations to the Cusanovich Endowment for graduate and undergraduate scholarships may be made online.

Cusanovich spent his entire academic career at the UA, starting as an assistant professor of chemistry in 1969 and becoming one of the nation's leading biochemists. His administrative posts also included a stint as UA interim provost and as a program director at the National Science Foundation.
Cusanovich also actively supported scientific research and entrepreneurship in biosciences and in other areas such as optical sciences.
