Policy on Religious Holidays

Aug. 23, 2000

The Arizona Board of Regents policy on religious holidays states that no employee, agent or institution can discriminate against any student, employee or other individual based on the individual's religious belief or practice.

Administrators and faculty members are expected to reasonably accommodate individual religious practices and a refusal is justified only when undue hardship would occur from each available alternative presented.

Any retaliation or discrimination is prohibited against anyone seeking a religious accommodation. The President of the University and the executive director of the board to the central staff are responsible to insure the policy is implemented. The policy is included in the University catalog and other publications assuring the University community is advised of its existence and execution.
