Native American film director and University of Arizona media arts alumnus, Chris Eyre, will be in Tucson to for a preview of his new film, "Edge of America," followed the next day by a discussion, "Art and Business of Filmmaking." Eyre will discuss the business of film making and his own experiences.
"Edge of America" is a film based on the true story of the championship season of a high school girl's basketball team from a reservation in New Mexico. Eyre will hold a question and answer period following the screening. The evening will conclude with a reception.
This event is presented by the Media Arts Visiting Filmmakers Program, which is funded by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences; the Hanson Film Institute; and the Tucson Cinema Foundation.
Other contributions come from the Tucson Film Office, the UA College of Fine Arts, the UA media arts department, the UA English department and the Native American Student Association.
