Student/Faculty Interaction Program

July 27, 2000

The next deadline to apply for a Student/Faculty Interaction Program grant is Monday, Aug. 14.

The program provides support for faculty who host students in social activities outside the classroom.

The program was established more than 10 years ago. Research has shown that students who have more faculty interaction have a greater tendency to stay in school.
In the past, faculty members have hosted get togethers at their homes, field trips and other activities. Priority is given to freshmen and new transfers.

Funding is split across five application deadlines. Subsequent deadlines are Monday, Oct 9; and in 2001 on Wednesday, Jan. 10; Monday, March 19; and Monday, May 14. Student/Faculty Interaction Program web site contains more information about the program online

Applications are available at the Dean of Students Office, Old Main 203. For questions contact Celia Sepulveda at 621-7059 or e-mail . The office can advise faculty with event planning. Generally, events are partially funded with maximum grants awarded to about $500.
