The University of Arizona men's basketball team and fans from across the nation will gather in Tulsa, Okla. as the Cats start their run for an NCAA title beginning with a matchup against the Memphis Tigers on Friday, March 18.
The UA Alumni Association has been busily preparing alumni and fan events since the opponent and location were announced on Sunday.
"It's been a bit of a whirlwind. There are many things to logistically plan, and we have a short time to do it," said Nick Pierson, director for UA alumni chapters.
The UA team left on Wednesday, and Pierson said fans will be flying and driving in from the surrounding areas. He said he has heard from alumni driving in from Dallas and St. Louis to participate in the pre-game activities.
On Thursday, March 17, activities in Tulsa include the Alumni Association gathering with fans at the BOK Center to watch the Cat's last practice before Friday's big game.
On Friday, March 18, the association will host a Wildcat Welcome Pre-Game Brunch complete with Wilbur Wildcat, the UA cheer squad and the UA pep band.
Added Pierson: "If we do win on Friday and advance to play on Sunday, we urge fans to check the website for updated activities to participate in."
