Fourth-year medical students from the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix have submitted a campus-produced music video for consideration in the upcoming Memmy awards.

The Memmys, known as the “Emmys of Medicine” and organized by the University of South Carolina School of Medicine, will give a prize of $1,500 to the winner's health science library. The contest was created as a way for students to express their creativity beyond their academic accomplishments.

The UA students created a video titled "Your Love," which has already received nearly 3,000 views and 105 likes on YouTube. The video was written and produced by graduating students Jeff Tully and Christian Dameff, and edited by college video producer Adolpho Navarro. The video's soundtrack is the song "Same Love," originally performed by hip-hop duo Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, with the lyrics rewritten by Tully.

The project started when Dameff forwarded Tully an email about the contest.

"We just thought about our classmates – these people we had spent some of the hardest parts of our lives with," Dameff said. "We thought back on their stories and how inspirational they were to us. It's so inspirational to think about the journey, not only the one that we've taken, but when we think about all the other stories of our classmates, it just blows me away."

A panel of judges will rate entries for prizes, but a popular vote – through likes on You Tube – is also conducted. The students are asking the community to support the project by watching, sharing and liking the video on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NNG1Xo4EvdE.

Winning videos must show originality, production value, and strong content. To learn more about the Memmy's, visit this website
