The University of Arizona Police Department's crime prevention office is offering MasterLock bicycle U-style locks to the campus bicycling community.

In partnership with MasterLock the UAPD has been able to acquire the locks at a reduced cost to offer to the UA community to educate staff and students and supply them with a tool to reduce bicycle theft on campus.

Bicycle theft on campus is a problem.

The UAPD recognizes that efforts to reduce theft on campus are everyone's responsibility. However the UAPD has a clearly defined role in education, prevention and enforcement to address the problem. The offering falls under UAPD's role of education and prevention.

The special price is $13. (The list price $22.69 plus tax).

The locks can be purchased at the UAPD, Crime Prevention Office, 1852 E. First St. Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Call ahead to schedule an appointment, 621-4219, or e-mail romero@uapd.arizona.edu or cscheopner@uapd.arizona.edu.
