In April 2014, the UA publicly launched Arizona NOW, the largest, most ambitious fundraising campaign in the University’s history, with the goal to raise $1.5 billion by April 2018.
The campaign has three funding priorities: enhancing the student experience, in scholarships and facilities; investing in innovative thinkers, such as creating endowed chairs, or funding for programs and initiatives; and expanding the UA’s reach to push the boundaries of global medicine, international collaborations, online education and more.
The campaign has spurred a number of donors to create substantial endowment funds, including James C. Wyant, professor emeritus and founding dean and of the College of Optical Sciences, who has given $10 million in endowed scholarship funds, the largest scholarship gift in the UA’s history. Alan and Daveen Fox gave $20 million in endowed gifts to the UA’s School of Music in the College of Fine Arts in honor of Alan’s 100-year-old father, Fred Fox, a master teacher and legendary horn performer. In recognition of the gift, the school was renamed the Fred Fox School of Music.
UA President Ann Weaver Hart and campaign co-chairs Sarah Smallhouse and Jeff Stevens review the successes of the first year of Arizona NOW.
