In the Center for World University Rankings, the UA finished in the top 0.2 percent among more than 18,000 higher-education institutions worldwide. Its global ranking of No. 52 represented a 23-spot increase over last year. The UA's overall score placed it 34th among U.S. universities.

The keynote address at Friday's Commencement will be delivered by Ray Mabus, former secretary of the Navy, governor of Mississippi and U.S. ambassador to Saudi Arabia. UA alumni Gilbert G. Aguirre (Class of 1957) and Mohammed Sharaf (Class of 1985) will receive honorary degrees.
