'One Giant Leap Day!' at Flandrau Science Center and Planetarium

Saturday, July 20, 2019 - 10:00am to 10:00pm

To cap off our Moon Landing Week, Flandrau Science Center and Planetarium will host "One Giant Leap Day!" with family-friendly moon activities and special planetarium shows. This is the actual day that the Apollo 11 astronauts first set foot on the moon 50 years ago on July 20, 1969.

Flandrau will provide activities in support of the Summer Science Saturday presentations happening next door at the UA Lunar and Planetary Laboratory, and in support of the "Moon" exhibit that opens on this day in the University Libraries Special Collections exhibit space. Both Summer Science Saturday and the "Moon" exhibit are a short walk from Flandrau.

Our Moonfest partners Arizona Public Media, Bookmans Entertainment Exchange, and the Dark Skies Association will join us to provide activities for the celebration. Visitors can also explore our special exhibit "From Tucson To The Moon" about the UA's role in landing a man on the moon, and how UA then became a world leader in planetary science.

Flandrau offers special moon activities from 1-4pm. For "One Giant Leap Day!" we'll be open 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. See the links below for more information and showtimes.
