This lecture is a part of the fall 2019 Middle Eastern and North African Studies Colloquium Series. The talk, by Hamdy Singary, L.L.M., will discuss the plight and geopolitical position of Iraqi Kurdistan.

About the speaker: Singary earned his L.L.M. from the University of Arizona Law International Trade and Business Law program and his S.J.D. from the James E. Rogers College of Law Indigenous Peoples Law and Policy Program. He is now senior advisor to the chancellor of the Kurdistan Region Security Council. Prior to that, he served as a head of the foreign relations department in the Kurdistan Region Security Council and as a lawyer in private practice in Kurdistan. His research for his Master of Laws focused on how Kurdish communities could build the path to nation building and how international law, advocacy, and Article 140 of the Iraqi constitution can further the self-determination of Kurdish communities.
