Media Advisory: Coast Guard Shield to be Unveiled Saturday
TUCSON, Ariz. — The Arizona Student Unions will unveil the Coast Guard Shield on Saturday, National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day, at the Student Union Memorial Center Rotunda and the University of Arizona Mall.
Five bas-relief sculptures representing each branch of the armed services are located in the rotunda. The Coast Guard sculpture was added in the spring of 2019. The reliefs are a tribute to the University of Arizona alumni who gave their lives for their country during World War II. There are also cast bronze memorial plaques listing the names of those who gave their lives in World War I, World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam Wars on the lower level of the rotunda.
