So many things are happening in November, it's probably a good thing that the month includes Veterans Day and Thanksgiving, when people can take a breather.
Music fans have a couple choices for things to do, one loud and one quiet. And if you want to pay less in taxes, there's something here for you, too. Two weeks before the Thanksgiving feast, you can celebrate your health and learn how to make good choices, and a week later you can have all the fun of gambling with none of the risks.
So what's holding you back? Find all of our suggestions below, and more, in the UA Master Calendar.
This new exhibit at the UA Museum of Art features handcrafted guitars for playing pretty much any kind of music, from acoustic to electric. There's a special focus on Tucson's custom guitar makers, including a panel discussion on Thursday with guitar makers Chris Larsen, Garry Knight and Bob Mick. The following week will feature a "musicology" lecture on how simple geometric shapes represent pop-rock chord progressions on the guitar.
This event is sponsored by the German Consulate and the German Goethe-Institute, but the University's Department of German Studies agreed to host the event because it is a unique outreach effort by the German government to promote the study of German language, literature, culture and music. The concert is free, and the UA and Tucson communities are invited.
