For the second consecutive season, the University of Arizona men's basketball team will open the season with a top-25 ranking.

Arizona was ranked 11th in the preseason 2012-13 ESPN/USA Today coaches' poll released this week, receiving a total of 411 votes, marking Arizona's highest appearance in the preseason national rankings since 2006-07 when both the Associated Press and the coaches' poll ranked the UA 10th to open the season.

Since the start of the 1987-88 campaign, Arizona has been ranked in 22 of 26 preseason coaches' poll in that period with the only exceptions coming in 2001-02, 2008-09, 2009-10 and 2010-11.

The UA garnered a No. 16 preseason ranking from the coaches a year ago.

The Wildcats will open 2012-13 with the annual McDonald's Red-Blue Game on Oct. 21 at 2 p.m. in McKale Memorial Center. Tickets are sold out for the annual intrasquad scrimmage.

It marks the second consecutive season in which Arizona's preseason scrimmage has sold out in McKale (cap. 14,538).

In addition to the game, the UA also will honor the 1987-88 men's basketball team and celebrate the 25th anniversary of that squad's journey to the Final Four. Team members confirmed to attend include coach Lute Olson, Craig Bergman, Jud Buechler, Sean Elliott, Steve Kerr, Kenny Lofton, Harvey Mason, Craig McMillan, Matt Muehlebach, Sean Rooks, Tom Tolbert, Joe Turner and manager Eric Meyer.

Fans should be aware that Arizona volleyball hosts Oregon State at 11 a.m. PDT. Arena doors will open at 10 a.m. and any fans with a McDonald's Red-Blue game ticket can enter the building at that time and support Wildcat volleyball as well.

Parking is free in the Cherry Avenue garage, surrounding surface lots and all non-reserved, non-handicapped spaces on campus.

The game will be webcast live on www.Pac-12.com. Fans will be able to view it online for free with no log-in required on the Pac-12 Networks video viewer. Interested fans can use the following link: www.pac-12.com/live/arizonawildcats.aspx.
Fans who view the online feed will be able to witness the player introductions, highlight videos, dunk contest and on-court presentations in addition to the intrasquad scrimmage, which consists of two 12-minute halves. The webcast will be generated from McKale’s in-house scoreboard production.
With the launch of the Pac-12 Networks in August, the conference now owns the broadcast rights to all live contests. Therefore, all Web broadcasts of this nature will be provided through the Pac-12.com media viewer.

The regular men's basketball season opener vs. Charleston Southern is scheduled for Nov. 11 at 4 p.m.
